Item Description
Graceful and refined looking pocket of bright aqua-blue tiny spheres of Rosasite with clear Calcites on a contrasting Limonite matrix. The Rosasite occurs both as individual "fuzzy" balls up to 2 mm in size and as glistening, lustrous jewels included in Calcite. A number of the Rosasites and Calcites have grown on 1 cm sized limonite or goethite stalactites giving the piece additional interest and some three dimensionality. The piece is in great condition with no visible damage to the display face. A great example of a Mapimi Rosasite with some uncommon features, radiant aesthetics and an outstanding color. It just has that sparkle and elegance! A very early selection, No. 148 in a collection that eventually hit over 4300 catalogued pieces at its height: and likely a much older specimen yet, from the collection of Jack Halpern who acquired it from (his favorite 1960s-70s-era) dealer Walt Lidstrom in the late 1960s. Ex. Jack Halpern Collection No. 148.
