Item Description

A fantastic Rosasite specimen from the famous Ojuela Mine. The piece is filled with superb blue-green color, velvety, radiating aggregates of Rosasite which are associated with bladed crystals of smoky / colorless Calcite sitting in a gossan vug. The piece displays well and the color is truly enchanting, this is about as saturated as it gets for Rosasite from Ojuela. Minor peripheral roughness is present where the piece was removed from the pocket wall, but still a fine representation of this attractive material. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
