Item Description

Eye-catching green to blue-green colored Rosasite has completely pseudomorphed after Malachite, which originally had pseudomorphed Azurite, so there are three generations of mineralization present on this piece. Some of the forest green Malachite can still be seen on the piece, which is intermixed with dark brown-black colored Tenorite. Superb and uncommon material from this well-known locality, that produced rich ore intermittently from 1893-1978. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
