Item Description
Beautiful turquoise-blue, matte lustre rosasite botryoids are dramatically festooned on the front of the sculptural undulating botryoidal limonitic matrix on this rich and colorful specimen from the Silver Bill Mine. More rosasite on the back is a nice bonus. This extinct Arizona small underground Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu-Au-Mo-Mn-Gemstone mine, only about 100 yards (95 meters) Southeast (mindat) of the much more famous and prolific Defiance Mine, produced far fewer specimens. Discovered 1890, the mine produced intermittently from 1893-1978. This piece probably came from an early 1990s collecting effort. See the March-April 1983 Mineralogical Record article on the Silver Bill Mine in Vol. 14, No. 2. A choice and rich example of the species and more obscure locale.
