Item Description
Relatively uncommon from Mina Ojuela, Rosasite is a zinc, copper carbonate. The teal-blue, velvety botryoids of Rosasite completely fill this vug in the gossan matrix. There are even some gemmy, flattened rhombs of probably Calcite intergrown with the Rosasite, showing bright flashes as you move the piece around. Several of the Rosasite balls reach over 1 cm across, and the overall aesthetics are outstanding. #1763 in Kay's collection, this was acquired by her in 1960, making it an old-timer for Ojuela, and a great one, at that. A 'giant oyster' in appearance, the lack of a pearl is more than made up for by the sheer quality of the Rosasite.
