Item Description

Romeite group minerals are a member of the pyrochlore supergroup of chemically complex cubic oxides and occur in metamorphosed hydrothermal manganese deposits. Translucent amber crystals with a waxy luster to about 2 mm are scattered in clusters on the quartz and manganese oxide matrix. This excellent, highly representative example is from the well-known Italian Type Locality. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection.
