Item Description

An unusually rare, rich and showy combination from this old Utah iron ore district, founded in the late 1880s and produced until at least the 1950s. Magnetite was a primary ore mineral. The solid granular magnetic magnetite matrix is highlighted by the sharp, lustrous, metallic 2.2 cm, magnetite octahedron and smaller octos. Scattered rare sprays of contrasting orange Rockbridgeite, a phosphate, and not Metastrengite, plus the rich sprinkling of tiny glassy, terminated hexagonal apatite crystals, to about 4-5 mm are super and rare accessories. Ex John Morrow Collection. A MUST for the Utah or species collector.
