Item Description

"Rice-grained" smithsonite is an uncommon and highly desirable varietal from this renowned locale. Juicy, translucent, blue-gray, rice-grains in globular aggregates fill the sculptural vug. There is another vug of crystals on the back of the piece. Material of this distinctive quality dates to the 1960s to 80s and perhaps older. Classic, aesthetic and very fine smithsonite from the Harold Urish Collection, a 40-year Tucson collector. He obtained this from Tony Otero, well-known miner, dealer and mine guardian at the Kelly, in July, 1994. Valued at $200-300. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!
