Rhodizite is a rare and beautiful mineral species only known from a few discoveries. This crystal, by the color and style, came out circa 2000, nearly 20 years ago or more, from a small find in Madagascar. It features a crystal to 1.5 cm, perched on a well trimmed matrix, making for an unusually balanced thumbnail. Note the interesting, subtle striation lines in the crystal, which is translucent but not transparent (as is typical). The color on this is high, almost as good as it gets. Note also that these crystals are now known to be a mix of londonite and rhodizite - different zones may be one of the other, and you need analysis at multiple locations to say which is predominant. We go with the old label on this, as primarily rhodizite. Contacted on back, this is complete on the display faces and is an imposiign rare species thumbnail specimen. Valued $750-1250.
