Item Description

From an old collection which turned up recently, I have not previously seen such a combination of hornblende on rhodonite! Rhodonite is a highly desired species from the famous Franklin District. The classic and rich combination specimen features vertical, blocky, bedded, translucent rose-red rhodonite - good on its own merits. Associated is a cluster of crudely crystallized hornblende capped at the top with sharp, tannish-gray, microcline crystals. these are pocket growth crystals, not etched out of calcite. Undoubtably older material, as it comes with a faded label. Showy and excellent material valued at $750 for the rhodonite alone, though the hornblende seems a nice bonus.
