Rhodonite xls in Calcite (Univ. of Arizona)

Sharp, translucent, rose-red, rhodonite crystals to 2.6 cm are nicely set in massive, glassy calcite and granular rhodonite matrix on this excellent large older combination specimen from Franklin. The 1.7 cm, isolated and sharply terminated crystal really stands out. There are broken crystals, but this remains a very rich and excellent example of the species and locale. Ex University of Arizona Collection and comes with a transparent label, indicating that the piece was on display at the museum. Bright orange fluorescence. Valued $500.
