Rhodonite with Galena

Item Description

Rhodonites from Australia came in several flavors, the fine (and expensive), slender, small gemmy crystals from the turn of the 1900s; and then a later find of the 1960s featuring these robust and sharp textbook crystals frozen in to a galena matrix. This is from that find, and is a textbook single crystal example of the classic material of that era. It is a translucent single red crystal with microcrystals of galena attached, very sharp and interesting. Nothing comparable came out from here in the years to follow, and it remains an important discovery.
