Item Description

This famous old-time locality near Ekaterinburg is the source of fine lapidary grade Rhodonite, and the best of these pieces were made exclusively for the Czar of Russia in the great lapidary workshops of Ekaterinburg. This piece features large patches of rich pink Rhodonite which is associated with black mangese oxides, and I'm told that the golden-orange spots are either Spessartine or Tephroite. This material is called "Orlets" locally, and only this material gets this name. A fine quality representative piece of this beautiful material from Russia. Weight: 342 grams (1,710 carats).
