Item Description
Russian rhodonite specimens from Ekaterinburg are rare and are seldom on the market. This is a hefty solid crystallized mass of partially translucent, rose-red rhodonite. Ex Russell Jones Collection and comes with a faded Ward"s label and a Hugh Ford label, a prominent English dealer who lived in New York City. The label dates from 1946-57. This old piece undoubtably dates to Imperial Russia, prior to World War I. After malachite, this was the most important ornamental stone for the czars. Suitable for a collector or for lapidiary use. 185 grams. - all carving grade!
