Item Description

Paisbergite is an obsolete synonym of rhodonite. This is a RARE and very fine combination old-timer from Sweden. Sharp, tabular, translucent, pretty rose-red rhodonite crystals to about 1.0 cm (largest at 1.2 cm is cleaved) are beautifully complimented with gemmy, golden-orange grossular garnets to about 6 mm in the scuptural 4.5 cm vug. Garnets of ANY varietal are RARE from this locale. This small Fe-Mn mine operated intermittently from 1847-1889 (MINDAT). The preprinted A.E. Foote label probably dates from 1880-1895. Ex Jean Hamel and Jaime Bird Collections. RARE on the market.
