Item Description

A classic and outstanding specimen of an isolated, sharp, pristine rhodonite crystal aesthetically perched on matrix from the world famous Franklin mine. The 1.3 x 1.2 x 0.6 cm translucent crystal has fine rose-red color. The classic matrix includes rhodonite, calcite, franklinite and a bit of willemite. The piece comes with a label from Lazard Cahn, the world famous mineral dealer, collector and crystallographer (1865-1940). The piece is approximately 100 years old as the labels has Cahn's Colorado Springs address listed, and he moved there from New York in 1915. Specimens of this crystal quality and isolation are very uncommon. Neon-orange (calcite) and green (willemite) SW fluorescence.
