Item Description
Broken Hill is one of the great world localities, and did a great deal for the overall prosperity of Australia. Rhodonites from Broken Hill are some of the most beautiful specimens in the mineral world. Matrix specimens are rare, but to find euhedral, gem quality crystals on matrix is extremely significant. This specimen features a good sized, well-defined, prismatic crystal of Rhodonite with classic fiery gemmy red color. To top it off, the crystal is associated with minor silvery-grey Galena. The best Broken Hill Rhodonites are the standard of excellence for the species, and these specimens are becoming next to impossible to obtain in today's market. Keep in mind that the majority of these specimens were mined approximately 60 years ago.
