Item Description
When it comes to fine crystallized examples of Rhodonite, the most iconic old-time specimens are those from Franklin, New Jersey. These beloved and historic specimens are some of the best known examples of Rhodonite ever found. This thumbnail specimen features a very good quality, sharp, well-formed, blocky, strong rose-red color crystal, free of matrix. A tiny secondary crystal sits atop the main crystal for a nice touch. The piece is in very good shape, with no major damage on the front, though a tiny nick can be seen on one corner. With a bit of backlighting, you can see that the piece is actually translucent, and has wonderful internal color. Specimens of this quality and are very hard to find on the market, and if you collect thumbnails, this is something that any good thumbnail collection should have in it.
From the collection of George Elling, a prominent East Coast collector.
