Item Description

A superb quality, rich reddish-pink Rhodolite Garnet from the famed Umba River (Umba Valley) in Tanzania. This area has been the source of the finest gem Rhodolites in the world, with superb color and clarity. Historically, the name Rhodolite was used to describe the rose colored variety of Pyrope, but in recent years many pinkish colored Garnets in the Almandine-Pyrope series are labeled as Rhodolite. This particular stone has an "Emerald" cut with eye-clean clarity, and an intense color, that is very comparable to top-grade Rubellite Tourmaline. The fact that the stone is close to 4 carats makes it very good sized for the material, and the saturation of color with excellent clarity makes it all the more valuable.
