Item Description

Rhodolite Garnet gems are some of the most vivid and beautiful examples of faceted Garnet out there. These attractive and often larger sized stones are beloved for their strong red/pink colors. It should be noted that Rhodolite is not a species of Garnet, but rather a variety. Originally the term was used to describe the rose colored variety of Pyrope, but in recent years many pinkish colored Garnets in the Almandine-Pyrope series are labeled as Rhodolite. The Rhodolites from Madagascar are hard to find on the market, and they are similar to the Tanzanian stones that have some of the most rich colors I've seen from any world locality. This is an attractive gem with a rich reddish-pink color and virtually eye-clean clarity. The cut on this stone is a "Brilliant Oval" cut. A beautifully colored stone from a lesser known locality for the material.
