Rhodolite is a red / pink-red variety of Garnet, originally considered a variety of Pyrope, but now classified as a variety of the Almandine-Pyrope Series. The strong warm hues seen in these gems make them some of the most vivid and beautiful stones in the Garnet family. The Rhodolites from Tanzania have some of the richest colors for the material from any world locality. This gem is attractive with a good saturated red color and is eye clean in clarity. The cut on this stone is an "Oval Brilliant" cut. An attractive stone from what is proving to be one of the premier localities in the world for the material.
