Item Description

A very fine and aesthetic thumbnail cluster of sharp, lustrous, translucent, reddish-brown, tabular rhodochrosite crystals from the famous Poudrette Quarry at Mont St-Hilaire, Quebec. Some of the crystal faces are frosted, while some are quite gemmy. The small crystal in the front looks to be of the odd "trigonal" twinned habit. It looks like a macle twin. Pieces of this quality were collected in the late 1970s. These specimens of flat rhodochrosite from Mt. St-Hilaire appear to be contact twins. Pristine, except for the bruising on the front edge of the small crystal. An excellent representation of the rare form, species and locality. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
