Item Description
The Uchucchacua Mine in Peru is one of world's best localities for Rhodochrosite, and certainly among the top in all of South America. This attractive full cabinet display specimen features glowing strong red colored, very sharp, gemmy, lustrous, modified scalenohedral crystals measuring up to 7 mm associated with minor Quartz on host rock matrix. Most of central crystals are damage free, though I can see a few incomplete crystals here and there, the only damage is around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. The piece honestly looks better in person than the photos might indicate, and if you collect worldwide Rhodochrosites or minerals from Peru / South America, don't miss out on this eye-catching specimen from this classic locality. Valued in the inventory at $3,000. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X119-8).
