Item Description

There are a lot of localities for Rhodochrosite in Colorado, and while the Champion Mine is well known to Colorado collectors, specimens are seldom available on the market. The piece features many sharp, beautiful pink color, semi-lustrous, compressed rhombohedra of Rhodochrosite forming "rosette"-esque groups with small areas of white Quartz and golden Pyrite. This is certainly a worthwhile specimen from this hard to find locality in southwestern Colorado. The largest Rhodo measures about 5 mm, and they are beautiful up close. You won't find many of these around anymore, so if you collect Colorado minerals or worldwide Rhodochrosites, do NOT miss out on this one. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X45-2) with a label from a previous dealer. This piece is priced at $600 in the inventory.
