Item Description
Attractive, classic cluster of red Rhodocrosite scalenohedrons from one of the world's great Rhodo mines. The largest of the crystals is 1.7 cm long, the luster is excellent, and the gemminess is better than you normally find. On most Nchwaning Rhodos, there is cleavage on the tips of some of the scalenohedrons, and this specimen is no exception. However, is makes little difference visually. There is also an attractive partial drusy coating (Quartz) on some of the Rhodos, adding a very pleasant contrast. Overall, a very good Nchwaning rhodo in a quality that you won't often easily find. These are valued VERY highly when they turn up. Remember, they have not been mined since the early 1980s and there are not exactly spares to go around for new collectors who want one. Valued $1500
