Rhodochrosite with Pyrite (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

Rhodochrosite from the Silverton District is very well known among collectors worldwide. This piece is a rather unusual Rhodo as the crystals are rather compressed/flattened, rhombohedra unlike the typical equant rhombs that are typically seen from this area. The crystals are also sitting on Pyrite, which is uncommon from around Silverton as well The color is a bright, soft bubblegum-pink and the crystals are aesthetically perched on the Pyrite matrix. This area is no longer producing and these Rhodochrosite specimens are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain.
