Rhodochrosite with Pyrite

Colorado has a lot of localities for Rhodochrosite. The Champion Mine near Lake City is well known to Colorado collectors, but specimens are seldom available on the market. The piece features many sharp, beautiful pink color, semi-lustrous, compressed rhombohedra of Rhodochrosite forming "rosette"-esque groups with a dusting of metallic golden Pyrite. This is certainly a worthwhile specimen from this hard to find locality in southwestern Colorado. You won't find many of these around anymore, so if you collect Colorado minerals or worldwide Rhodochrosites, do NOT miss out on this one. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired from mining, but spent many years underground, including as the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s.
