Item Description

One RARELY sees Rhodochrosites from any locality in Leadville, but the Julia Fisk specimens are well-known to Colorado collectors as they are iconic and instantly recognizable. This miniature sized specimen is loaded with small, sharp, lustrous, "saddle"-shaped compressed Rhombohedra of pale pink Rhodochrosite up to 4 mm which are associated with gorgeous sharp, cuboctahedral metallic grey Galena crystals measuring up to 1.1 cm. The reverse side of the piece shows a composite group of sharp lustrous Galena and a bit of minor golden Pyrite. These specimens are nearly impossible to obtain, and if you collect worldwide Rhodochrosites or minerals of Colorado, you can't afford to miss out on this highly attractive and excellent quality display specimen. For reference, one of the accompanying labels states that the piece was collected in the 1970s by Bill Hayward. Valued in the inventory at $1,000. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X89-2).
