Rhodochrosite with Fluorite (mined 1978) (ex Rich Kosnar collection)

Item Description

A nice association specimen from this world-class locality. A sharp, translucent, red-pink color rhombohedron of Rhodochrosite associated with a purple color, cubic Fluorite crystal with very minor black Sphalerite. The Fluorite is gemmy, and although contacted, still very attractive for the material. These specimens have sky-rocketed in value since the mine closed, and the specimens from this mine are certainly among the finest quality Rhodochrosite crystals in the world. For those who don't know, Richard Kosnar mined the Sweet Home for a few years during the late 1970's and managed to collect some excellent Rhodo specimens. This piece is from one of the last pockets that Rich opened before he was done at the mine. Enjoy.
