Rhodochrosite with Fluorite and Quartz

The Sweet Home Mine has produced the world's best Rhodochrosites, bar none. This fine combination specimen features a 1.3 cm Rhodochrosite rhomb with deep, cherry-red color and good luster, nestled among purple Fluorites (unusual!) and slender Quartz needles. It is worth nothing that this was specimen number 130 from the "3rd crosscut," as they explored their way into this old mine very early into the stunning production of the 1990's. Good Sweet Homes are hard to find, and notoriously scarce when it comes to reasonable prices, since the mine's main production ceased late that decade. Good aesthetics and history for this small cabinet specimen. From the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
