Rhodochrosite with Fluorite

Here we have a lovely association specimen from the contemporary Wutong Mine in China. These particular specimens are quite reminiscent of their counterparts from the famous Sweet Home Mine in Colorado, but they have a distinctive appearance all their own. Several compressed rhombohedra of rich reddish-pink colored Rhodochrosite measuring up to 7 mm across are associate with very lustrous, sharp, gemmy purple Fluorite cubes measuring up to 4 mm on edge associated with minor Quartz and Pyrite. The Rhodo crystals have a bit of roughness in areas, but some areas are crystallized upon close inspection. This miniature sized specimen is a great example of this beautiful material that is seldom seen on the market today. From a prominent Midwest collection that we purchased over the summer.
