This strawberry-red cluster of rhombohedral rhodochrosite crystals comes from one of the world's most desirable locality for the species. At 6.8 cm across (with a main crystal that reaches 2.1 cm on edge) this specimen is a fantastic example of the find. It has textbook associations of small milky-to-clear needle quartz, with brassy chalcopyrite and metallic-grey tetrahedrite. The photos say it all - and see the video! Specimens like this Easily retail at shows for $5000 and up, these days. From an old collection, it looks to us like late 1990s material. Pristine and colorful with contrast, hard to find affordably today.
