Rhodochrosite with Calcite

A classic and showy specimen from this fairly well-known locality, most famous for its beautiful Rhodochrosite specimens. This piece is a very attractive example of this distinctive material featuring a rich coverage of light pink, spherical aggregates of Rhodochrosite measuring up to about 9 mm across, covering the underlying sulfide-bearing matrix (mostly Galena with a little bit of Pyrite I can see). The front/display side of the piece is in fine condition, with no major damage I can find, and the only roughness is on the edges where the piece was separated from the pocket wall. I love the three-dimensional form of the piece, as it's not a flat plate, but rather has sculptural form with good displayability. Minor Calcite is present on the back of the piece. Valued $1,500.
