Item Description

Intergrown, lustrous, translucent, rose-red rhodochrosite rhombs with frosted faces, to 1.8 cm on edge, form a rich and attractive 360-degree mounded miniature from Peru. The W.S. Logan Collection # X45-8 label lists the Alpamina Mine, but MINDAT does not list a mine with this name in Yauli Province. The piece is likely from the recent finds at the Manuelita Mine. A showy and highly representative example of the species and locale.
