Item Description

Rich rose-red, translucent rhodochrosite rhombs, to 7 mm, with frosted satin lustre faces cover the undulating face of this very rich and colorful specimen from the famous Uchucchacua Mine. This is probably an older piece from 1980s finds, before the outstanding scalenohedrons starting coming out. The hefty matrix is sulfide rich and the piece displays well without aid. Ex W.S. Logan Collection # X95. Specimens of this crystal habit, color and richness are uncommon and this is an excellent example. Valued $1000-1500. STRANGE piece!
