Rhodochrosite (uncommon locale)

Item Description

A showy crust of lustrous, translucent, botryoidal, deep rose-red rhodochrosite from a most unusual locality in Kazakhstan. Rarely available. It came out over a decade ago. The sawed matrix appears to be massive, brick-red jasper. A bit of bruising is noted, but this remains a rich and highly representative example of the species and locale. From a major rarities collection.
