Item Description

Rhodochrosite is ultra-rare from the famous mines of the Keweenaw Peninsula and is not listed as a species in the 1992 Mineralgical Record Special Issue on Michigan Copper Country. This historical and important old-timer consists of integrown, blocky, lustrous and translucent, cleavages of rose-red rhodochrosite. The provenance, with the old paper label on the piece, probably from Harvard, with the 1925 date on the University of Arizona label very strongly supports the attribution. We have NEVER seen such a piece. Value of such a Michigan rarity???
