Rhodochrosite, Stilbite, Chalcopyrite and Quartz

Item Description

This fine matrix specimen features rosettes of rich pink rhodochrosite, to 2 cm in length, partially coated by a druze of ivory colored stilbite and a few lustrous, brassy colored chalcopyrite crystals, to 1 cm across. In addition, there are a few, lustrous and translucent, colorless quartz crystals present , to 2 cm in length. From the Keith Williams Collection of miniatures and small cabinet specimens - Keith was a well known dealer and collector for decades before retiring recently. Keith was one of the first dealers to import quantities of material from Bulgaria by the early1 990s, and supplied thousands of specimens to the market , including on epocket of this really unusual material I recall seeing with him back in the 1990s. This is an extremely rich example, and has great association of the stilbite - which is, I think, unique to this locality and really strange to see . Zeolites on Rhodo!
