Rhodochrosite (slightly gemmy)

Argentina has provided a tremendous amount of stalagtitic Rhodochrosite with a beautiful pink color banding, but rarely is the material gemmy enough for faceting as most of it is either slabbed or cabbed. With that said, this is one of the gemmier pieces of Rhodo from Argentina that I've offered in the auctions in a while. This "Oval Cabochon" cut has a slightly velvety interior, and the color is a rich pink hue along with white banding to show how it grew in stalactitic formations. A unique and attractive gem to add to a rare stone collection.
