Item Description
A gorgeous rhodochrosite cluster from the famous early 1980s find shere, never repeated since in nearly 30 years now. These cherry-red scalenohedra set the standard and good, gemmy specimens such as this are hard to come by now (in any size range). They only turn up now as old collections recycle, and there is just ot enough to go around with as many collectors as there are now in the game. The gem is approx 7 x 6 x 5 mm and makes a nice complement to the crystal for a rough & cut set. Shockingly this cluster is PRISTINE - normally we accept chips and tip cleaves in these things because they are so uncommon, so old, and just were not colelcted with the kind of care we would wish today so you "take what you get." However, this one is pristine with no dinged tip - very rare! Valued $2400 for the crystal, perhaps $300 for the gem.
