Item Description

These were some of the first Rhodo specimens that came out of the now famous Wutong Mine. The specimens associated with Quartz and sulfides (like this one) can remind one of similar specimens from various mines in Colorado. I would say that the habit of Rhodochrosite on this specimen are similar to those from the Eagle Mine, but on a matrix that resembles the Sweet Home Mine. There are dozens if not hundreds of sharp, pink, flattened rhomobohedra of Rhodochrosite forming gorgeous "rosettes" which are sitting atop thin prismatic Quartz crystals on sulfide matrix. Very little damage and just lovely in person. This style was only found for a brief time at Wutong, and I haven't seen anything like them since. This piece has a price tag of $1,800 in the inventory.
