Item Description
The Sunnyside Mine produced some very well known Rhodochrosite specimens in its history, along with some attractive association pieces. This specimen features beautiful, light pink "rosettes" of Rhodochrosite composed of tightly intergrown rhombic crystals which are associated with sugary white Quartz. There is no matrix, as the back of the piece reveals pure Rhodochrosite, which is mostly crystallized, so the piece is close to being a complete "floater". A really attractive example of these classics from the San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado. The Sunnyside Mine Rhodos are beloved by Colorado collectors and were a staple on the market for decades, especially when there were very few pieces from the Sweet Home Mine around.
