Item Description

A excellent example of this odd "trigonal" twinned habit of rhodochrosite from the famous Poudrette Quarry at Mont St-Hilaire, Quebec. This reddish-brown, translucent crystal has a frosted center with gemmy and lustrous surrounding grooves. It looks like a macle twin. This piece is from the Ernie Schlicter Collection, who collected the pocket in the late 1970s. These specimens of flat rhodochrosite from Mt. St-Hilaire appear to be contact twins. An excellent represesntation of the rare form, species and locality.
