Item Description

An excellent 2-piece deal of striking thumbnails from a rare and old locality, the Moanda Manganese Mine in Gabon. Hedgehogs of gemmy and lustrous, rose-red, rhodochrosite scalenohedrons cover the massive manganite ore matrix. A few broken crystals are noted (mostly on the less densely covered piece), but certainly nothing to detraction. This material came out in the 1970s and early 1980s and no more have been found. For the location these are excellent quality specimens in this size range. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
