Item Description
A very hard to find specimen from the fairly obscure Daniel Bonanza Mine in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. The piece hosts lovely soft pink colored rhombic crystals of Rhodochrosite which are wedged in a vug of white to colorless Quartz crystals in massive Quartz matrix. The largest Rhodochrosite measures about 4 mm across. I can see some small metallic spots of Sphalerite and Pyrite / Chalcopyrite here and there for a nice touch. The central area of the vug features the best / undamaged crystals, but the outer edges are contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket. If you're a fan of Rhodochrosite or Colorado minerals, you need one of these in your collection, as they are nearly impossible to find on the market today. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X132-5) with a label from a previous dealer.
