Rhodochrosite (rare locality specimen)

Rhodochrosite specimens are difficult to find from any mine in Nevada, and the pieces from the Lone Tree Mine are some of the most well-known and certainly distinctive examples from the entire state. These pieces are now notably hard to find on the market, so if you collect Rhodochrosite, don't let this one get away. This piece features attractive botryoidal aggregates of rich orange colored Rhodochrosite measuring up to 5 mm across, sitting on a layer of black Romanèchite along with minor associated Baryte on matrix. A very attractive example of these eye-catching Rhodos of a different style than we're used to seeing for the species, from a lesser-known locale.
