Item Description
VERY RARE rhodochrosite from a most unexpected place! This colorful trigonal tabular crystal is from the famed Pederneira Mine pegmatite! The tranlucent, lustrous to moderately lustrous crystal has beautiful cherry-red to rose-red color. Complete all-around and in great shaple, with only a couple of cleaved spots along the edges. The flattened form of Pederneira rhodos is similar to that of flattened rhodos from the famous Poudrette Quarry at Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. This is probably from the old 1990s to early 2000s finds. Ex W.S. Logan Collection # 97-5. Valued by the former dealer at $2500 for exceptional rarity, locality and quality.
