Item Description

Rhodochrosite is a relatively rare accessory mineral from the historic mines of Cornwall. Clusters of pretty pastel-pink, frosted, translucent, flattened rhombs are attractively scattered on the milky quartz crystals, to 2.0 cm, on the massive quartz matrix. Rhodo specimens of this richness and combination quality are VERY RARE from the famous Geevor Mine. This noted mine was active in the 1700s and was one of the last deep tin mines in Cornwall, closing in 1992. Ex John Marshall Collection # 2975. Ex W.S. Logan Collection # X104-6 and illustrated on Page 121 of his 2013 self-published book, Rhodochrosite - Crystals of Drama and Nuance (available by request ). A MUST for the locality or species collector! Value?? We feel $1000 is fair but honeslty, it is hard to say. These are simply NEVER for sale.
