Item Description

The Rhodochrosite from Argentina is world famous. The combination of the red, pink and white colored bands of material is beautiful, but it's typically found in uncrystallized, concentric stalactitic forms. CRYSTALLIZED specimens from this locality are incredibly hard to find, and this small cabinet display piece is a fine example of said material featuring sharp, defined, trigonal crystals of Rhodochrosite measuring up to 4 mm across sitting atop a layer of a rich reddish-pink and white banded Rhodochrosite at the base. Virtually all of the crystals are in great shape, though there are some contacts around the periphery were it detached from the pocket wall. If you collect worldwide Rhodochrosite, you NEED to have this piece in your collection because crystallized specimens like this are nearly impossible to obtain from any locality in Argentina. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X35).
