Another, perhaps UNIQUE rhodochrosite rarity from Colorado and the W.S. Logan Rhodochrosite Collection # X61-8. This one is from the famous Idaho Springs gold mining district, from where specimens of any variety are quite rare. Sections of rich rose-pink, moderately lustrous rhombs, to 1.3 cm, are densely and dramatically clustered on the blocky quartz-rich matrix. Undoubtedly older material, but no proof. Comes with an older 1950s to 70s label. MINDAT has no rhodos in the Locality Photo Gallery.
